As Gannett Fleming continues to grow and expand, we are looking for a highly motivated  HVAC or Fire Protection Engineering INTERN  to join our team in the Owings Mills/Baltimore, MD office. Candidates must possess a “can do” attitude, a willingness to learn, and strong team building skills.

During your internship, you will be working with a highly functioning team and aid in providing design services for a wide variety of projects.

 

Responsibilities will include:  

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams on real client projects, contributing to the design and development process.
  • Collaborate with engineers to understand project requirements and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations
  • Design system layouts (piping, ductwork, etc.), equipment sizing, interference checking and coordination of trades including Architectural, Structural, Civil and Electrical.
  • Assist in the review and modification of existing designs based on project needs.
  • Assist in field survey work as necessary
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including design specifications, reports, and technical drawings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering program 
  • Working towards bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • HVAC or Fire Protection Focus
  • An interest in learning more about careers in the A/E/C industry related to providing engineering and architectural services
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or REVIT 

  • Knowledge and/or experience with heat transfer

  • Knowledge and/or experience with fluid thermodynamics

  • Prior mechanical engineering related internship or similar experience
  • Involvement with professional associations, on-campus groups, and/or community service initiatives 

  • Microsoft Office Experience
