As Gannett Fleming continues to grow and expand, we are looking for a highly motivated Water Engineer Intern to join our team. Candidates must possess a “can do” attitude, a willingness to learn, and strong team building skills. 

 

Gannett Fleming's Internship Program is a formal 10–12-week experience designed to fully immerse you in our culture. Emphasis is placed on mentorship and connection to peers across all our business lines while you work alongside leading experts in the engineering industry.

 

During your internship you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals and contribute to our water projects while continuing to learn and be mentored. Our projects include study, design, bid and construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades; pipeline and pumping stations; stormwater infrastructures; hydraulic modeling; safe yield investigations; and preparation of various regulatory agency permit applications.

With the guidance of experienced water, wastewater, and stormwater engineers, you will assist with a variety of system engineering assignments, including:

  • Field data collection
  • Data analysis
  • Report writing
  • Hydraulic modeling
  • Permitting
  • Research and evaluation of various topics, processes, and equipment
  • Preliminary facilities design
  • Cost estimating
  • Financial analyses
  • Client interaction

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program 
  • Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
  • An interest in learning more about careers in the water resources industry
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills
  • Physically able to perform work in the field, if applicable

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in BIM, Civil 3D, AutoCAD and/or Microstation
  • A focus or coursework related to water, wastewater, hydraulics, or chemistry.
  • Prior water engineering related internship or similar experience
  • Involvement with professional associations, on-campus groups, and/or community service initiatives
