We are currently looking for Staff Civil Engineers to support critical infrastructure design and construction across the California foothills and mountains. Our projects include levees, canals, flumes, dams, spillways, and everything else to help solve California’s critical water supply issues. This is an opportunity to work directly with civil, geotechnical, and structural designers to implement creative design solutions.

 

As a Staff Civil Engineer, you will perform engineering calculations, technical studies, and prepare plans and specifications for a wide variety of projects, including new dams, dams and spillway rehabilitation, levees, outlet facilities (gates, valves, and piping), culverts and outfalls, open channels, canals, and facility inspections. Occasional field work, which may comprise multi-day or multi-week assignments, is expected.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops design in accordance with applicable design guidelines.
  • Develops calculations, specifications, quantities of materials and cost estimates as part of the project team.
  • Produces drawings and specifications within specific tasks that meet the scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements and satisfies all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Reviews shop drawings to determine conformance with the contract documents.
  • May provide direction to and supervision for technicians, designers and less-experienced engineers.
  • Communicates with clients on behalf of the project team under supervision of project manager.
  • Attends client meetings and participates under direct supervision of project manager.
  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams and lead tasks.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
  • M.S. Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification required with the ability to obtain Professional Engineer (P.E.) license within one year.
  • 4 or more years of direct work experience in civil engineering
  • Specialized experience in advanced software applications preferred (structural, seismic, stability analysis, AutoCAD Civil3D, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with CADD design software
  • Expertise with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience with project proposals and presentations preferred.
  • Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks
