Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Municipal & Utility Project Engineer to join our Transportation Group in Downtown Toronto, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Downtown Toronto office.

 

What you'll be challenged to do:

 

As a Municipal & Utility Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in expanding your career by engaging in the design of water distribution systems, storm, and sanitary sewer systems. You will be at the forefront of taking on new challenges in supporting roads, facilities, environmental, and transit assignments.

 

In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Actively contribute to engineering design assignments as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Provide field support through inspections, construction inspections, and administration.
  • Collaborate with both peers and senior-level colleagues to report on project status, issues, and mitigations.
  • Design and draft conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design engineering drawings, ensuring they align with project specifications and budget.
  • Develop a variety of drawings to support design development and project execution, including plan & profiles, typical and site-specific sections/details.
  • Prepare detailed engineering design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and construction specifications.
  • Draft and deliver design narratives, technical reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Collect, review, and incorporate municipal design standards and other relevant materials in design preparations.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory and municipal agencies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update project design records and files.
  • Perform related duties and tasks as assigned or required, enhancing processes through complex problem solving.

What you will bring to our firm:

  • 5 – 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field of practice
  • Proficiency with watermain and sewer design calculations
  • Registered or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P.Eng.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of drafting software including AutoCAD & Microstation

What we prefer you bring:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley Open Roads software related to sewer and watermain modelling
  • Familiarity with industry standards, permitting/approval processes, and various delivery models
  • Preferred familiarity with MECP, Conservation Authorities, lower tier, and upper tier municipalities approvals processes

Compensation:


The range for this position is salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
