Gannett Fleming, Inc.  is currently seeking a Sr. Communication Designer to join our Systems Engineering Group in our Camp Hill, PA office. Basic function and scope of responsibilities

Under general supervision, performs communications studies and preliminary designs for a wide variety of project types including water, wastewater treatment, manufacturing, commercial, federal, transportation and utility clients. Performs assignments of limited scope which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks.  Assignments may involve some unusual or difficult problems requiring job knowledge and abilities beyond entry level.

 

Principal Responsibilities and essential functions

  • Prepares plan details and outlines, cost estimates, studies and reports and performs electrical calculations in support of broader engineering activities involving the design of equipment, components, structures, or systems.
  • Gathers and records information for the preparation of technical specifications
  • Evaluates vendor submissions to assure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepares first draft of technical reports or sections of larger reports.
  • Reviews design drawings within defined limits.
  • Performs investigations & measurements and collects field data.
  • May Perform some 3-D modeling
  • Coordinates design and reviews specifications with other groups within Gannett Fleming to complete projects

 

Education and Licensing requirements

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or another technical degree
  • BICSI Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) Certification preferred

 

Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or experience 

  • 5+ years of applicable experience
  • 3+ years of experience in various communications systems including CCTV, Fiber Infrastructure, networking, telephone systems, Wi-Fi, Access Control, public address systems, public information displays, Class 2 wiring requirements, IP WAN, LAN and WLAN, fiber optic systems
  • Data Center experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems preferred
  • Industrial Network experience that supports SCADA applications in Water, Wastewater, Rail, Transportation, Dams, Power, and local and state governments
  • Have experience in the writing of reports, reviews, spreadsheets, proposals, cost estimates and contract documents
  • Adept at interfacing with Communications Common Carriers, including the defining of, and establishment of contract parameters such as, Service Level Agreements, bandwidth requirements and the selection of communications protocols and their related interfaces
  • Specialized experience in network design, budget link analysis, wireless and RF studies, horizontal and vertical cabling.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of advanced (3D) design software and advanced computational software applications
  • Experience with supervision of staff
  • Experience with managing projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to lead client presentations
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD , Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Revit
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Good oral and written communications skills

Additional Notes

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. General office work environment.  May be required to work in confined spaces.  Travel to work sites for an extended periods of time may be required. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.  Must be able to independently travel and be physically present in the office or at a client site.

Core Business Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary Range: $70,000 - $110,000
Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location
