Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Electrical Engineer - Traffic Signals & Lighting to join our Transportation Group in Toronto, ON! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

 

What you'll be challenged to do:

  • As a Project Manager / Senior Electrical Engineer - Traffic Signals & Lighting, you will spearhead pivotal projects that enhance public infrastructure through innovative solutions. You will lead initiatives, manage project phases, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, while advancing your career and preparing for leadership roles
  • In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Act as the technical lead and project manager for traffic signal and streetlighting projects, overseeing planning, design, construction management, and contract administration.
  • Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Guide and mentor a team of electrical designers and engineers towards successful project completion.
  • Conduct site inspections, supervise installations, and ensure compliance with design standards and municipal, provincial, and AODA standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, utility companies, and contractors to ensure alignment with project goals and address updates proactively.
  • Integrate energy-efficient solutions and ensure dark-sky compliance in designs.
  • Lead business development efforts, prepare cost estimates, monitor budgets, and manage project schedules.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency in traffic signal and lighting designs, maintaining comprehensive project documentation for audits and compliance.

 

 

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
  • 8-12+ years of relevant experience in traffic signals and roadway lighting design, construction, and project management.
  • Proficiency in AGi32, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other related design software.
  • Strong understanding of power distribution, tender preparation, and AODA compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects including utility coordination and traffic management.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Lighting Certification (LC) by NCQLP or IMSA Level I.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/IESNA RP-8-21 and the TAC Guide for the Design of Roadway Lighting.
  • Eligibility to obtain MTO RAQS in minor and major electrical work.

Compensation:


The range for this position is salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
