GFT is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our transportation group in Toronto, ON! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto, ON office.

What you’ll be challenged to do:
The Civil Engineering Intern have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate engineering professionals on a variety of highways, municipalroads, and transit projects
 
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
  • Participate in planning, preliminary design and detail design for various highways roads, and transit projects
  • Prepare engineering drawings, sketches, and layouts using an array of software platforms including AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • Prepare material quantity and cost estimates
  • Provide technical writing input to proposals, feasibility studies, and other technical design reports
  • Participate in site inspections & field investigations
  • Coordinate with internal and external team members on various design aspects requiring multidisciplinary coordination

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Preference will be given to candidate nearing graduation with potential for transition into a full-time role after graduation
  • Familiarity in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is considered an asset
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and calculations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
