Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a CADD Technician to join our Geotechnical Dams & Hydraulics Team in Houston or Fort Worth, TX! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of our Texas offices.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

Seeking CADD Designer with 3 or more years of experience for our Houston office or our Fort Worth office. This position will assist in the planning, design, and production of H&H, land development and transportation projects, working as part of a design team under the direct supervision of a PE and Senior Designer. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has experience in roadway, drainage design, utility layout and site grading using AutoCAD Civil 3D design platform.

 
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 
  • Working independently to create base maps, drawings and designs for land development projects, including drawing setup for preliminary and construction plan sets, including sheet layout, setup of both model space and paper space, manage xrefs, incorporate redlines and design provided by the Project Manager.
  • Creating preliminary and construction plan sets, including horizontal control, grading and drainage, erosion control plans, utility and roadway profiles and cross-sections, topographic maps and design details and notes.  
  • Investigating field conditions and reading and comprehending design drawings, construction specifications, codes and regulations, and technical information to develop drawings.
  • Adhering to project deadlines and keeping supervising staff informed of any difficulties encountered on assignments. 
  • Executing and adhering to QA/QC requirements.
  • Reproducing drawing and document packages to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Maintaining technical knowledge regarding computers, software, and design techniques.
  • Learning and adapting to new programs and adjust to changes in product and client demands.
  • Effectively communicate with others via telephone, in written form, by e-mail, or in person complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
  • Must be able to collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices.
  • Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skills.
  • Interest in experiencing a variety of assignments is important.

 

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • 3+ years of working experience in the Civil Engineering industry, Transportation, Land Development, and/or Public Works preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of municipal and state design standards and codes.
  • Knowledge of the terminology, techniques and practices used in various types of construction relating to land development including the ability to develop, read, and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
What we prefer you bring: 
Certification or technical degree preferred.
• Experience with MicroStation preferred

 

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
