GFT is seeking a motivated and organized Engineering & Operations Coordination Manager to join our Transit & Rail group in Baltimore, MD. This is a hybrid position, requiring regular onsite presence at client offices and operational facilities.

What you’ll be challenged to do:
The Engineering & Operations Coordination Manager will serve as a liaison between engineering program teams and rail operations personnel, supporting the successful integration of heavy maintenance activities within a multi-year capital program. This role is critical to improving communication, minimizing service disruptions, and advancing a lifecycle-driven approach to asset management.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Gather and document operational and maintenance requirements to inform the development of long-range heavy maintenance programs.
Support the integration of rail maintenance activities into the agency’s 5-year capital delivery plan.
Track and monitor scheduled maintenance work to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
Facilitate coordination between maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to optimize scheduling and resource use.
Assist with the service impact analysis process, helping to evaluate the effect of maintenance on service delivery and secure operational approvals.
Develop and maintain communication protocols and documentation to support interdepartmental coordination.
Support documentation and records management in accordance with agency standards.
Provide guidance to maintenance teams initiating or managing mode-led projects.
Participate in work block planning and operations coordination meetings.
Perform other related duties as needed to support program success.
What you will bring to our firm:
Minimum 2 years of experience in transit rail infrastructure planning, operations, maintenance coordination, or related fields.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project) and Adobe Acrobat.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and produce quality results under tight timelines.
Organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through.
Eligible to work in the United States.
What we prefer you bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Planning, or Project Management preferred.
Prior experience coordinating across rail operations and maintenance departments.
Understanding of lifecycle asset management or long-term capital planning.
Familiarity with work planning, scheduling, or service impact processes in a transit environment.
PMP certification is a plus.
Experience working with or supporting Maryland-based transit agencies is highly desirable, especially familiarity with MTA’s internal coordination practices.
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $130,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
