GFT is seeking a Traffic Engineer  to join our Practice or CBG Team in Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, or Orlando FL!! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at any of our Florida offices.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

This role will support a variety of design and planning projects in the Southeast region. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in traffic engineering, transportation planning, organization and completion of traffic studies, projects, and concept development of interchange projects for a variety of clients, particularly states and municipalities.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Perform evaluations, investigations, and design in traffic engineering including signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, lighting, Maintenance of Traffic, and ITS.
  • Perform analyses in traffic engineering including capacity, Level of Service, queuing and delay.
  • Document and report all processes and results.
  • Assist in the preparation of plans, CAD drafting, and computations.
  • Perform field observations of traffic operations, roadway geometry, and existing conditions.
  • Preparation of displays and graphics for client and public meetings.
  • Assist with the design and development of a complete set of construction documents including the coordination required with other disciplines.
  • Assist with the coordination of subconsultants’ work.
  • Write and prepare project specifications.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Assist with and prepare technical memoranda and reports for traffic engineering such as Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Safety Studies, Transportation Management Plans, and Maintenance of Traffic Alternatives Analyses.
  • Conducts and oversees field work for the collection of traffic data, such as traffic counts, vehicle spot speed studies, sight distance measurements, delay studies, gap studies, etc.
  • Knowledge of the MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, Highway Capacity Manual, ITE Trip Generation Manual

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 0 to 5 years’ experience in Traffic Engineering.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and communication skills for report writing.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgement capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
 
What we prefer you bring: 
  • Experience with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, HCS and Sidra.
  • Experience with traffic modeling software such as Cube and VISSIM/VISUM.
  • Knowledge of various engineering software design systems, such as MicroStation or OpenRoadsExperience with lighting photometric analysis software such as AGi32 or Visual Lighting.
 
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $59,000-$84,000 Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
