GFT is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to support a major infrastructure upgrade at a wastewater treatment facility in Manhattan. This full-time, onsite role is part of a larger effort to modernize critical systems by replacing outdated electrical and structural components with energy-efficient technologies.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

 

As an Electrical Inspector, you’ll be part of a major infrastructure project upgrading a key wastewater treatment facility in Manhattan. This effort centers on replacing outdated electrical systems with modern, energy-efficient technologies.

 

The work includes rehabilitating the plant’s primary settling tanks and associated electrical components such as switchgear, conduit systems, and power distribution equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring these electrical installations meet project specifications, safety codes, and quality standards—supporting the delivery of reliable and sustainable infrastructure.

 

In the capacity, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct on-site inspections to monitor and verify electrical work in accordance with project specifications, electrical codes, and safety standards.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with approved electrical drawings and submittals.
  • Document daily construction activities, including daily reports, site photos, equipment logs, and as-built markups, inspection findings, and electrical testing results in accordance with project requirements.
  • Participate in electrical systems testing, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Coordinate with field staff, contractors, and project managers to resolve issues and maintain progress.
  • Perform final inspections of electrical work, prepare punch lists, and confirm all items are resolved prior to project closeout.
  • Attend and contribute to preconstruction and progress meetings as required.  

What you will bring to our firm:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical inspection on infrastructure or utility projects in wastewater treatment facilities or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems including switchgear, conduit routing, grounding systems, and power distribution.
  • Familiar with electrical codes (e.g., NEC) and industry standards for inspection and construction documentation.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Proficient in computer systems used for project documentation and inspector daily reporting.
  • Effective communicator, both verbal and written, across a range of project stakeholders.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification required or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to navigate active construction sites, climb ladders, and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Occasional night or weekend work may be required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

 

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $124,000 - $145,600 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
