Senior Bridge Designer

GFT is seeking a Senior Bridge Designer to join our Transportation Team. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance in our offices.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

As a Senior Bridge Designer, you’ll take an active role in supporting the Denver bridge practice within our dynamic structures group. You’ll be responsible for coordinating design plans and details alongside a collaborative team, performing structural calculations, developing 2D and 3D CADD models, and generating construction cost estimates and schedules. You’ll also assist with routine and complex bridge inspections under the guidance of experienced team leaders, contribute to technical reports, and participate in load rating evaluations. 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

• Coordinates with bridge design project team to lay out portions of plan designs and details.
• Performs design calculations, specifications, quantities of materials, cost estimates as part of the project team.
• Utilizes CADD to develop 2D and 3D models and construction plans.
• Establishes pay items, calculates quantities, and develops construction cost estimates and construction schedules.
• Assists with bridge inspection activities for both routine and complex structures under direction of Inspection Team Leader.
• Calculate the load ratings of various bridge types.
• Works on small projects independently.
• Prepares first draft of technical reports or sections of larger reports.
• Has begun to interface with clients, data collection, and attendance at meetings.
• Opportunities for field work (including overnight travel) for interested candidate.

What you’ll bring to our firm:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures.
• 3-5 years’ experience in bridge design and/or detailing.
• Working knowledge of plan development with CADD required (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
• Working knowledge of geometry and structural design software
• Working knowledge of Design Manuals and Design Guidelines
• Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Ability to work independently and produce quality work as part of a design team
• Strong written and oral communication skills

What we prefer you bring:

• EIT certification
• Colorado client relationships
• Strong familiarity with CDOT
• Masters in Civil or Structural Engineering

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $79,000 - $104,000; Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
