GFT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support a variety of projects in Hydro generation.  This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our either Roseville, CA office. 

 

What you'll be challenged to do:

 We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Roseville, CA office to support a variety of projects including hydro generation, water and wastewater treatment facilities, federal, and utility clients.

Experience required includes code reviews, systems design and applications, economic evaluations, life-cycle cost analyses, energy conservation, equipment selection, specifications, construction estimating, bidding documents, construction administration, start-up, trouble shooting, and commissioning of mechanical systems. Work also involves field surveys of mechanical systems and testing of existing systems. 

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Determines client requirements and develops designs and contract documents
  • Works with client and other disciplines to prepare appropriate designs
  • Reviews vendor drawings and evaluates need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendations for entire projects
  • Consults with construction personnel concerning field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of activities
  • Ensures that production of drawings and specifications meets the scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements and satisfies federal, state, and local requirements
  • Attends factory acceptance tests, field tests
  • May provide direction to and supervision for junior level engineers
  • Communicates independently with clients and vendors
  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary teams and lead tasks and simple project teams
  • Provides general oversight, control, and management of design-related activities for a project, including Level-1 reviews.
  • Prepares feasibility evaluations, reports and letters.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

 

What you will bring to our firm: 

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • MS in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in California, or able to obtain such within 12 months
  • 4+ years of applicable experience related to hydro power generating facilitiesor large pumping plant facilities desirable
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic and fluid dynamic experience
  • Advanced capabilities in AutoCAD, Microstation and Bluebeam is required, Revit experience is a plus
  • Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Some experience with management of small work groups and project tasks desired

 

 

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $95,000 - $156,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
