GFT is seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Highway to join our Practice in Baltimore! This role a part time model, requiring regular attendance at our MSHA District 6 office.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Provide engineering staff support for Access Permit reviews.
  • Serve as the assistant project manager and primary point of contact between SHA and Federal, State, and local agencies, municipalities, elected officials, citizens, consulting engineers, and the private development community for all developer projects subject to the Access Permits review process.
  • Assist in the coordinating with reviewing offices throughout SHA, consulting engineers, and with reviewing offices within the district, including the District Engineer, the Assistant District Engineers, the Resident Maintenance Engineers, the Utility Engineer and the District Chief of Real Estate.
  • Supervising, managing, facilitating, interpreting and/or negotiating the application of MDOT SHA standards, policies and guidelines. Attend development meetings with developers and county officials offering MDOT SHA perspective on proposed developments.
  • Coordinate meetings with stakeholders virtually or in-person in the field or the district office. Stakeholders may include consultant engineers, local, State and federal agencies and SHA personnel during all stages of a project as necessary.
  • Perform independent review of access permit plans, Local Access Roads (LAR) plans, Safe Routes to School (SRTS) plans, estimates, ADA waivers, Bicycle waivers, Design Exceptions, Addendums, and Redlines; compiling SHA staff comments and preparing comment letters.
  • Supervise inspectors if requested.

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in related Engineering field preferred

Compensation:
The Salary range for this part-time position is $32.00 to 33.00/hr assuming an average of 24 hours per week.
