GFT is currently seeking a creative, highly talented Structural Engineer to join our Building and Places Group in Pittsburgh, PA. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Pittsburgh, PA office.

What you’ll be challenged to do: 

Successful candidates will have demonstrated professional experience in structural engineering.  Projects include participation in a wide variety of building structures.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:  

  • Assist in the Development of  comprehensive structural drawings with clarity and precision, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, utilizing Revit, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Perform engineering calculations using both software tools and hand calculations to analyze and design structural elements such as beams, columns, and foundations.
  • Conduct gravity and lateral system analysis for low- to mid-rise building projects.
  • Evaluate and analyze existing structures for retrofits and rehabilitations.
  • Assist with field inspections for facilities and transit-related structures as required.
  • Utilize industry-standard software such as ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, and TEDDS for structural analysis and design.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a professional and productive manner.
  • Engage in client interactions by participating in meetings to understand project requirements, present design solutions, and address any concerns.

What you will bring to our firm:  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis (required).
  • PA PE certification is required or the necessary experience to obtain a PE within the next 12 months.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a structural design engineer on various building related projects.
  • Familiarity with RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, TEDDS and other structural engineering analysis and design related software.
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and industry standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, etc.).
  • Attention to detail with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation: 

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000. Salary is dependent upon experience level.
