Highway Project Engineer

GFT is seeking a Project Engineer, Highway to join our Transportation team in Texas. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of our Texas offices. We are accepting applicants from people in San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and Dallas – Fort Worth, TX.

What you’ll be challenged to do: 

Join GFT’s Transportation team in Texas as a Project Engineer and play a leading role in shaping transportation infrastructure that enhances community connectivity and sustainable growth. You’ll collaborate in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment and manage projects that contribute to safe, efficient, and resilient travel networks.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

• Leading and managing the planning, preliminary design, and detailed design phases of roadway and highway infrastructure projects.
• Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, sketches, and layouts using advanced civil design platforms.
• Producing 2D and 3D engineering documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and InRoads/OpenRoads as part of our ongoing digital transformation.
• Ensuring compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal engineering standards and regulations.
• Writing and contributing to technical documentation including design reports, feasibility studies, design criteria, and proposals.
• Conducting and overseeing site inspections and investigations to inform and validate design solutions.
• Collaborating directly with clients, attending meetings, and providing technical guidance and insights.
• Mentoring junior team members and contributing to a supportive and innovative team environment.

Employment Status: Full-Time
Salary Range: $124,900 to $149,900
Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location
