GFT is looking for resourceful and talented Project Manager/Senior Transportation Planning Engineer to join our Texas (Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, McAllen) offices to lead our transportation planning and engineering projects pursuant to federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

The Project Manager, Senior Transportation Planning Engineer will be an integral part of the Texas offices as a member of the Transportation - Highway team. This candidate will be responsible for managing projects commensurate to experience. This individual will contribute to the design of roadway alignments, feasibility studies conceptual designs, preliminary design alternatives development for NEPA environmental documentation, public involvement programs for local agency clients and for TXDOT, cost estimates and required technical reports. This person will be responsible for mentoring and training younger staff, work planning and /production scheduling, growth visioning, managing project budgets, scopes, schedules, and clients. This individual will participate in the planning and design of transportation related projects and must be innovative and adaptive at identifying problems and finding solutions.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Management or task technical lead for multimodal transportation planning and preliminary engineering projects for public and private sector transportation projects
    • Coordination with clients and other consultants as part of a project team
    • Management of in-house technical disciplines and other specialty consultants in the development of transportation planning and engineering projects
    • Management and tracking of projects, including scopes of work, budgets, and schedules
    • Participation in business development activities of our transportation sector
    • Development of proposals for project pursuits

    • Assistance in staff training and development

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license 
  • 8-15 years of progressive industry experience, focused on working with public sector clients
  • Experience with corridor studies, mobility plans, grants, traffic engineering and operation, preliminary engineering and cost estimate, and rail grade separation planning and design.  
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Project management capabilities such as the preparation of scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and meeting materials
  • Knowledge of project management procedures, tools, and software
  • knowledge of GIS, CAD, Synchro, and Highway Capacity Manual procedures

  • Master’s Degree with a Transportation Focus preferred 
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $190,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
