As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an emerging Entry Level Stormwater Engineer to support our Transportation group in our Boston, MA office. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

The Entry Level Stormwater Engineer will support design opportunities including roadway and intersection improvements, bridge replacements, drainage and grading improvements, and highways and interchange projects. You’ll engage in meaningful mentorship and professional development as you build a successful career.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Design highway drainage systems and Green Infrastructure/stormwater management basins.
  • Perform hydrologic watershed modeling.
  • Develop hydraulic models for bridge and culvert replacements.
  • Assist with the development of construction plans.
  • Assist with the preparation of environmental permit applications.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with the team.  
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload on various projects simultaneously.  
  • Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.  

What you'll bring to our firm:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited university. 
  • 0-2 years of experience in stormwater, roadway, or drainage engineering. 
  • Demonstrated interest in stormwater engineering or related roadway engineering field through applied academic coursework, prior internships, or work experiences.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD or similar drafting software. 
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player, and willingness to learn.  

 

What we prefer you bring:

  • An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Prior experience with Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with MassDOT Transportation standards.
  • Experience in preparing detailed design contract drawings and packages.

 

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary range is $80,000-$95,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
