GFT is seeking a Mechanical/ Process Engineer/Specialist to support a variety of projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Baltimore, MD office.

What you'll be challenged to do:

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

 

  • Designing, specifying, calculating, executing, and laying out industrial process projects from inception through start up and commissioning.
  • Collecting, analyzing, interpreting data, and conveying findings to both the internal project team and client through emails, narratives, reports, and equipment selection.
  • Researching, interpreting, and implementing industry practices, safety codes, client standards and GFT standards on every project.
  • Managing and successfully executing multiple projects concurrently to the agreed upon scope, schedule, budget, and technical quality.
  • Coordinating all technical activities on assigned projects. Responsible for having an awareness of and ability to recognize technical problems.
  • Preparing design packages including data sheets, calculations, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, drawings, layouts, PFDs, P&IDs, and RFPs.   
  • Performing design, constructability and drawing reviews.    
  • Coordinating the efforts of engineering support groups and external resources such as vendors, consultants, and contractors.
  • Conducting project meetings and engaging in effective communications with all project parties.
  • Mentoring, instructing, and helping develop new and current engineers within the group.

What you bring to our firm:

 

  • Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial or similar.
  • Proven design experience in industrial and process/mechanical engineering with 7-12 years of applicable experience.
  • Note: Significant experience may be substituted in lieu of specific educational background.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Plant3D, Revit. 
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or the ability to obtain.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required for occasional travel.

What we prefer you bring:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is an asset, but not mandatory for the role. 
  • Experience with pipe stress and flow modeling software (Caesar II, Fathom, PipeFlow, etc.) a plus.
  • Must understand CAD operations and convey proposed design to team for implementation. 
  • Other 3-D modeling software experience a plus.
  • Basic understanding of all engineering disciplines with capacity to self-perform engineering in at least one discipline.
  • Excellent technical, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical mindset.
  • Knowledge of process, industrial, health and safety standards.

Compensation:

 

Typical salary range for this position is $120,000-$140,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
