GFT is seeking an Associate Electrical Designer to join our Practice in Toronto! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

In your role as an Electrical Associate, you could work independently in a complex and fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients. You have excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, a strong sense of urgency, the ability to prioritize tasks, and above all, a willingness to learn and contribute to a team.
The ideal candidate will assist in the design and analysis of traffic control systems, traffic signal design, Roadway illumination, and ITS infrastructure (bonus), as well as understanding of roadway signage/pavement marking for major roadway and infrastructure projects. This role provides exposure to complex projects across municipal and provincial agencies, including those adhering to MTO standards. You are expected to lead and contribute to the successful design, production, coordination, and management of Traffic Signal Design and Infrastructure Lighting projects under the least amount of supervision.
You will develop traffic signal, lighting, or auxiliary systems designs in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, including layout, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, photometric layouts, grounding details, and prepare and review wire sizing, voltage drop, cable pull tension, and conduit capacity calculations. You will also be responsible for coordinating a multidisciplinary team, utilities for electrical infrastructure, and transportation-related design and construction projects, as well as preparing technical reports, tender documentation, and providing field support, including commissioning, traffic signal turn-on, and site inspections.
You will ensure that Engineering deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, analysis, budget estimates) comply with applicable regulations, standards, corporate procedures and sound engineering practices, review drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC programs and ensure that project deliverables are met in a timely manner to a high quality including engineering drawings and preparing final reports.
