GFT is seeking a Materials Coordinator to join our Construction Services Team in the Great Lakes/Chicago, IL! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance between Rockford, IL and Chicago, IL office.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Report to a construction team to provide material engineering support, assistance and associated project coordination
  • Review and evaluate material testing and laboratory reports.
  • Participating in field exploration activities as needed
  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, correspondence, design drawings, and construction specifications in alignment with scope requirements.
  • Provide specialty observation support during the construction phase of various projects as required.
  • Manage and coordinate with internal staff and external consultant staff members
  • Analysis of technical data for material investigations; and experimental or new technology trials
  • Development and revision of technical construction or materials specifications

What you will bring to our firm: 
  • 10-15 years of experience with an emphasis in construction and material management and documentation with technical deliverables including investigations, reports, drawings and specifications.
  • Valid driver's license
 
What we prefer you bring: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a Civil Engineering/Materials/Geotechnical focus is strongly preferred
  • Field experience with construction observation for bridge projects, highway projects, deep foundations, pump stations, drainage, watermain, furnish excavation, landscaping, lighting. and traffic signal projects.
  • ICT Certifications with Illinois PCC Level 3, HMA Level 3, Aggregate, IDOT S-33, Documentation of Quantities is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of IDOT’s CMMS and Illinois Tollway’s eBuilder documentation procedure
 
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $210,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
