GFT is seeking a Senior Consultant, Asset Management and Resilience to join our Practice or CBG Team in Toronto! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.

 

What you'll be challenged to do: 

 

The Senior Consultant (Senior Project Manager) leads, manages, and delivers complex consulting engagements in the infrastructure asset management domain. This position focuses on providing technical, strategic, and project management leadership to multidisciplinary teams delivering services to public infrastructure clients across Transit, Transportation, and Utilities sectors.

 

The Senior Consultant is responsible for client relationship development, project delivery excellence, business development support, and cross-collaboration with other business lines. The role involves leading asset management, capital planning, and operational improvement projects that align with client business objectives and industry best practices.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:


Business Development

  • Support and lead pursuits in collaboration with practice and corporate leadership.
  • Develop client relationships and actively contribute to the firm’s market visibility.
  • Prepare and present proposals and technical materials, including project scope, methodology, and value proposition.
  • Contribute to pipeline development and tracking opportunities through corporate systems.
  • Represent the firm at conferences, professional associations, and client forums to enhance brand recognition and influence.

Project Delivery

  • Lead consulting projects end-to-end, including scoping, planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Develop project management plans, risk registers, and resource allocations for multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate cross-practice teams and subconsultants, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical quality standards.
  • Ensure deliverables are compliant with ISO 55001 and recognized industry standards.
  • Oversee preparation of technical reports, data analyses, and presentations, maintaining a client-focused outcome orientation.
  • Apply asset lifecycle, cost, and risk optimization principles to achieve measurable client value.
  • Develop and implement asset management policies, frameworks, and governance structures.
  • Support clients with condition assessment planning, service level definition, and capital prioritization strategies.

Financial and Quality Control

  • Monitor project budgets, invoicing, and earned value metrics in accordance with internal systems and procedures.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships, ensuring adherence to contract terms.
  • Conduct regular project reviews to assess schedule, quality, and financial performance.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews in accordance with GFT’s Quality Management System.
  • Ensure project risks are identified, mitigated, and documented.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide junior consultants and analysts, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with practice leaders across offices to develop standardized methodologies and tools.
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing initiatives and development of thought leadership materials.

 

 

What you will bring to our firm: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Planning, Economics, Public Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years in asset management or infrastructure lifecycle planning.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams in delivering consulting or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in asset management program design, lifecycle planning, and risk-based decision making.
  • Knowledge of PAS 55 and ISO 55001 standards and their practical application.
  • Proficiency with enterprise asset management systems (e.g., Maximo, Infor, Hexagon, AssetWorks) and/or data analytics tools (e.g., ArcGIS, Power BI, Excel).

What we prefer you bring: 

  • Master’s Degree in Economics, Civil Engineering, Planning, or related fields.
  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience, with at least 5 years in asset management or infrastructure lifecycle planning.
  • Experience in public sector infrastructure asset management, particularly in transit or municipal contexts.
  • Understanding of standard transportation planning and financial modeling practices.
  • Certification from the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) or PMP designation preferred.
  • Experience with data transformation, system integration, and maintenance management processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage with executives and technical audiences alike.
  • Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills with a track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.

Compensation:

 

The salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
