GFT is seeking a Project Engineer, Civil to support a variety of projects in the West Region and nationwide. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Berkeley office.

What you’ll be challenged to do: 

This position will include civil engineering design for a variety of projects, including site development, utilities, rail, storm water management and road/trail design projects. The candidate will be responsible for executing work. The successful candidate will have a diverse project background with extensive experience in multi-discipline projects. This position has a hybrid work environment.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Preparation of conceptual design and construction documents using Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads and AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and preparation of investigative design reports and studies. 
  • Hands-on role in the production of deliverables. 
  • Project coordination with in-house engineering, architects, environmental/planning and outside consultants. 
  • Reviews project design for general compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements, and related specifications. 
  • Meets quality control and quality assurance guidelines. 
  • Delegates to junior staff. 
  • Trains/Mentors junior staff. 

What you will bring to our firm:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.  
  • At least 5 years of professional experience on a diverse range of projects of increasing responsibility and experience in civil engineering. 
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer. 
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and various engineering software systems AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. 
  • Candidate should have knowledge of local development approval process including site design and grading, stormwater management and erosion & sediment control design, and utility design. 
  • Candidate should be locally located. 
  • Proficient in the review and preparation of reports, plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E). 
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we prefer you bring: 

  • Licensed Engineer with 5-8 years of professional experience on a diverse range of transportation-related projects. 
  • Design experience for site development projects and construction administration strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Software expertise in: Civil 3D, GeoPak/OpenRoads, Bluebeam. 
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting. 
  • Experience/interest in mentoring. 
  • Experience with federal projects is a plus. 
  • Experience with railroad CAD standards (UPRR, BNSF, etc.) is a plus. 

 

Compensation: 

  • The Salary range for this position is $126,000-$192,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
