The successful candidate will function as part of the Operations & Maintenance Project Delivery Team to fulfill project objectives and deliverables. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with project teams and resources across GFT, Metrolinx, TTC, contractors and consultants to support fulfillment of project goals, requirements and to ensure project objectives and timelines are met.


BASIC FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES


The successful candidate will be responsible for providing coordination and administrative support to the Director of Operations & Maintenance. The work will entail enhancing and completing development of operational concept documents and to progress early works tasks within the O&M portfolios for the Metrolinx Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) and Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE).

The successful candidate will perform functional validation on defined business needs and stakeholder requests to ensure all relevant transit agency requirements are accounted for within project and operational plans. The opportunity will include development of long range estimates for operational practices to be implemented and maintenance of subway extension infrastructures and equipment. The individual will interact with resources across various project and functional teams to derive, confirm and report on project statuses. The successful candidate will provide support in the planning of meetings with key teams and stakeholders, development of meeting presentations and the documentation and distribution of meeting minutes.

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION


The GFT office in Toronto, ON office is currently seeking an Operations Analyst - Intern to support operations and maintenance (O&M) projects for the GTHA's subway extension projects. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on the development and implementation of O&M requirements and specifications, functional validation, review of design packages and fulfillment of project objectives.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Support development and completion of operations and maintenance objectives for SSE Kennedy Station modification project
• Develop and present Asset Warranty initiation and activation methodology and processes
• Track and support development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Receive, review and validate quality of draft SOPs;
• Store SOPs in GFT Enterprise Document Records Management System (EDRMS)
• Perform project schedule tracking and updates for O&M objectives
• Plan and coordinate physical inspections for YNSE Finch Station Early Works Assets
• Complete functional assessments to ensure operational relevance of proposed designs
• Conduct reviews of architectural drawings, renderings and designs to validate operational feasibility
• Draft and review documentation includes operational concept documents, process mapping and operational integration strategies
• Draft and review specifications of operations and maintenance requirements for various complex municipal linear infrastructure and transportation planning projects
• Develop estimates for maintenance of subway extension equipment and components
• Determine feasibility of stakeholder requests and coordinate development of technical decisions
• Support O&M Principal Project Manager in preparation and submission of meeting minutes.

 

 

EDUCATION AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

 

• At least in 2nd year post-secondary education one of the following disciplines: Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Analysis or Business Process Analysis

 

TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE

 

• Familiarity and/or experience in facilities management, construction, project management, business analysis, transit/transportation or IT & Communications is an asset
• Must be able to read and interpret architectural, UDLA and civil data/drawings for facilities, communications systems and urban environments
• Familiarity with process flow development and analysis
• Exposure to contract reviews and proposals is a benefit
• Awareness of current AI development and usage practices
• Knowledge and application of MS Project, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint, MS Visio
• Ability to plan and deliver simple projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well within a team environment

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Generally, work will be conducted in an office environment. Must be able to independently travel and be physically present in the office or at a client site.
