Responsibilities

We are currently seeking Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) Supervisors for a Full-Time or Part-Time (depending upon circumstances at the time of hiring), role in Chipley, FL

  • Oversee and provide guidance to RTMC Operators in their communication, coordination and response to traffic incidents
  • Oversee and provide guidance to RTMC Operators in their communication, coordination and response with FDOT personnel, Florida Highway Patrol and other law enforcement, Emergency Management, emergency response and incident management entities.
  • Draft and recommend policies and procedures related to RTMC operations
  • Develop and deliver training programs
  • Train RTMC Operators
  • Monitor RTMC staff for adherence to the RTMC Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
  • Consult with the TMC Management and other supervisors during development of staffing schedules and other RTMC staff operations
  • Employ various software applications running within the RTMC environment to control ITS field devices, monitor traffic flow, and perform data analysis
  • Oversee the submission and accuracy of all data provided in required RTMC operator logs, reports and documentation
  • Develop progress reports and matrices for RTMC operations
  • Part of continuous supervision of a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week operation
  • Provide guidance during severe traffic related events
  • Provide guidance in posting alerts, notifications and messages on FLATIS and for floodgates
  • Coordinate control room activities to assist in the management of responses to disasters and high profile special events
  • Ability to work alternate work schedules and be on-call 24 hours/day 
  • Performs other related work as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, Associates preferred
  • Candidates must pass drug screen and National (by fingerprint), criminal background check prior to employment
  • Minimum of two (2) year of experience as an RTMC Operator in a SunGuide® RTMC (Experience in a facility similar to the Chipley RTMC may suffice to meet part or all of this entire requirement)
  • Prior knowledge of the SunGuide® Software and related systems is preferred
  • Knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), principles
  • Skills in leadership, supervision, interpersonal relationships and ability to work well within a group
  • Ability to clearly communicate information in English over a radio system or network.
  • Ability and willingness to work alternate work schedules and be 'on-call' 24 hours/day.
  • Skills in the use of freeway management and ATMS applications.
  • Ability to write reports, and correspondence.
  • Ability to coordinate real time activities and priorities.
