Responsibilities

Gannett Fleming’s Columbus Office is looking for an innovative, bright, hardworking Transportation Engineer/ Planner to join our Transportation Practice. This individual will primarily perform planning activities on transportation engineering, operations, and planning projects but may be required to assist other departments as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with his/her supervisor and more experienced project managers, engineers and planners.  

Project Work – depending on the individual’s particular expertise, perform project-related work, such as report writing, field work, data analyses, meetings, etc. related to transportation projects. 

Background in transportation planning required; preferred experience with Land Use and Transportation plans, safety studies, corridor studies, traffic analyses, access management plans, thoroughfare plans, multi-modal studies, and/or other related transportation planning studies. 

Responsibilities:

  • Data collection and existing and future conditions analysis
  • Conduct land use and demographic data analyses to identify trends
  • Assess transportation and community needs both qualitative and quantitative
  • Development, analysis and evaluation of transportation improvements
  • Perform planning, public involvement and report preparation for various transportation projects.
  • Graphic design: prepare graphics and renderings; prepare document templates and design layouts.
  • Public involvement: coordinate outreach activities and prepare materials.
  • Assist project managers by tracking project budgets
  • Prepare progress reports
  • Provide overall assistance in multi-modal transportation projects. 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Minimum (Masters preferred) in Engineering/Planning or closely related field.
  • Previous related experience highly desired but not required
  • Understanding of Transportation Planning principles
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Skilled in organizing information and formulating reports.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite products. Experience with traffic analysis software programs such as HCS or Synchro is a plus.
  • GIS experience is highly desirable
  • Innovative individual with strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow professionally
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously both independently and also as an integral part of a design team
