    What You Will Do

     

    Our Geotechnical Practice is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Pittsburgh, PA office!

     

    As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead and assist in the investigation, analysis, design and construction observation of a wide variety of civil infrastructure, water resources, and transportation projects.

    The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will possess strong experience in the design of foundations for structures and bridges, earth retaining structures, and tunnels. You should be very strong technically and ideally have project management, marketing and business development experience.

    Other Responsibilities Include:

    • Planning of subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations
    • Perform analyses for; stability and natural and man-made soil slopes, settlement estimates, foundation design, lateral earth pressure for retaining walls, pavement design and rockfall protection
    • Design and analyze shallow and deep foundations for highway and transit bridges and guideways, earth retaining structures, and tunnels
    • Preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, design drawings, and specifications
    • Provide construction consultation support during the construction phase of various projects
    • Prepare geotechnical technical and cost proposals
    • Assist with marketing and business development efforts

     

    Minimum Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required
    • Professional Engineer License in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain professional registration within 6 months of hire date
    • 10-20 years of geotechnical design and management experience
    • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is preferred; experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required
    • Experience leading and Mentoring Staff Level Geotechnical Engineers and Geologists
    • Strong analytical and report writing skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment
    • Experience with marketing and business development

     

     

     

    Preferred Qualifications

     

    • Master’s Degree with a Geotechnical focus preferred
    • Experience with geotechnical software including: SLIDE, Slope/w, Seep/w, Sigma/w, LPILE, GROUP, PYWALL, CRSP, Plaxis and gINT is preferred
    • Field experience with construction observation activities such as micropile and drilled shaft installations, soil nail walls, earthwork and shoring is preferred
